After being offered to play one of the lead roles in the newest kapamilya sweetcom My Papa Pi which starts airing next month, Pepe Herrera said he immediately jumped at the chance to work again with director Cathy Garcia-Molina as well as co-stars Piolo Pascual and Pia Wurtzbach.

I want to get to know them and hopefully be friends with them. Nandito na nga, nagkatotoo na. Yehey,” he shared during the My papa Pi mediacon.

In the series, Pepe plays the role of Popoy who has a twin brother named Pipoy (Piolo). Popoy is also in love with resident beauty Tere (Pia). In real life, Pepe said he discovered that he and Piolo also have a lot in common.

Pero siyempre, from time to time you want a break from routine, ang sarap ng creative outlet. At saka mahilig talaga ako sa tao talaga eh. I’m very, very curious. Na e-energize ako pag nakikipagkuwentuhan at saka pag may bagong nakikilala. Kaya I’m very, very excited.

After doing various roles on stage and in TV and movies, Pepe said he feels very grateful and blessed to be offered his biggest television role to date. The 34-year-old actor said the preparation for doing live shows and teleseryes are not that different.

“Kasi sa training namin sa theater, it doesn’t matter kung maiksi yung buhok or mahaba, puwede naman mag-wig, puwede naman mag-costume. Puwede mag-transform through costume and makeup. Baka blessing in disguise or divine intervention,” he said.

When it comes to doing comedy, Pepe also revealed who are his inspirations both in and outside the country. Yung buhay pa si Jim Carrey at Dave Chapelle. Silang tatlo. Sa local si Dolphy number one,” he added.
