With Star Magic kicking off its year-long celebration for its 30th anniversary, long-time talents of ABS-CBN’s talent management arm shared what they considered the highlights of their careers so far during their recent mediacon.
Having entered showbiz as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother over 16 years ago, The Broken Marriage Vow star Zanjoe Marudo said he is thankful for his projects as well as the extracurricular activities he enjoys as part of the Star Magic family.
Celebrating his 15th year in showbiz this year, Gerald Anderson said that the highlight for him is not a specific event but the collective experience in the industry.
“Siguro more than a project, it’s the moments, the relationships, the friendships na nabubuo on the set kasama yung mga Star Magic family namin. Pag mag-mo-mall show kami out of town, pag ako laging may side trip or pupunta kami i-e-explore namin yung cities. So for the last 16 years yun yung highlight ko. Because yung relationships that you build din with these people na very passionate din sa trabaho nila, Looking back now parang yun yung moments na lagi mong maaalala. Yung ups and downs in my life and my career, sila din ang nakakasama ko. I get strength from them,” he shared.
As a former child star, Shaina Magdayao credits her growing up years on the set as being integral to her character formation as an adult now.
“Ni-ri-recognize ko na I had a very unique childhood. Unang una, lumaki na ako sa harapan ninyong lahat. Maaaring napanuod niyo yung mga shows na ginawa ko but kumbaga it helped shape me as a person kasi lumaki ako with people from all walks of life. So yung mga crew namin, yung directors namin, yung mga co-actors ko sila yung mga naging ate ko, mga naging kalaro ko kasi nga at a very young age I was already working. I guess itong industry na ‘to, since I was basically raised by this industry and this network, ang dami kong natutunan sa buong showbiz world na ‘to, yung pakikisama sa tao.”
Hashtags member Ronnie Alonte shared that his Metro Manila Film Festival entries were definite highlights in his career so far. “Yung Seklusyon days ko and Vince and Kath and James nung Metro Manila filmfest,” he said.
First season PBB alumni Sam Milby said he has been able to collect more highlights throughout his almost 17 year career but his stint on the long-running reality show definitely started it all.
“Pinoy Big Brother dun ako nag-start. Doon nag-start ang lahat lahat. Pati yung first teleserye ko Maging Sino Ka Man, yung movie namin ni direk Lauren (Dyogi) and then Halik. Sa mga gustong mag-artista I think ang importante yung place ng passion niyo hindi dahil gusto niyong sumikat, I think it’s yung passion sa acting. Because if gusto niyo lang sumikat yung placement of why you want to become an actor is wrong. I think it should be yung passion sa acting.”
