As the day draws closer to their grand virtual meet-and-greet with fans in Closer: The KDLex FanCon happening this Saturday, February 26, KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad admitted they never expected to gain such a following after leaving the Pinoy Big Brother house.
“I didn’t expect that much support after we got out of the house. I didn’t think that we would be loved that much because of our nominations and stuff. Because of how many times we got nominated inside the house. But it turns out… I kinda felt it that when I was inside the house I kept getting saved so like wow, we kept getting saved so we must be doing something right. It turns out the viewers did relate to us a lot and they really did like our bonding and jamming and I just feel super grateful and super grateful to have the support talaga,” KD admitted during the Closer mediacon last February 22.
Alexa said that she and KD are still adjusting to being back in the outside world after almost three months of being in the long-running reality show.
“Honestly being inside the house, we had zero idea on the things that were outside. I would always say pa na, ‘May nanunuod kaya?’ Kasi wala kaming idea talaga. I don’t feel anything. So of course when we got out, it was really overwhelming talaga. Up to this day actually when we get a bit overwhelmed because we ask ourselves, ‘Wow, what did we do to deserve this much love from such great people.’ It’s just overwhleming so we feel so lucky. We’re so blessed sa totoo lang na we got such great blessings pagkalabas namin sa bahay ni kuya,” she admitted.
For their event, Alexa shared how she and KD envisioned the experience they want their fans to have while watching her and KD on stage.
“We want our concert to be as raw as possible. Kasi minahal kami ng tao dahil galing kaming reality show. Nakita nila kung sino talaga kami, kung paano talaga kami. So we want to continue that and we want to just make the show super comfortable, laidback, raw. Like a really cool jamming acoustic session. Something like that. Kasi yun naman yung forte namin. Dun naman kami nag-bond at naging close. So yun yung gusto naming feel. Para talagang ma-at home yung mga sweethearts, yung mga viewers,” she explained.
As the clamor for KDLex grows, the two Star Magic artists shared how they are preparing for their first official fancon event this year.
“Of course there’s going to be some surprises talaga. But I guess sa concert expect a lot of fun talaga,” KD said.
Alexa said she also looks forward to performing the songs she and KD wrote together while inside PBB.
“Well we’re going to be singing a few songs we wrote inside the house. The songs that we know our sweethearts love so much. And I’m sure they’re so excited to finally hear us sing it live. So that’s something that I made sure we’re going to do and that we’re going to be able to give. Because we really wanted the songs to be our originals. Siyempre meron pa ding halong iba but mostly we wanted it to be really genuine and from our hearts. So we chose to sing our own compositions,” she added.
After the VIP tickets to their event sold out within the first few hours of it being available online, KD admitted being shocked and grateful at the same time. “I was like, ‘Oh okay, thank you everybody!’ (laughs). I’m super thankful for everyone that bought VIP tickets and even the gen ad ones. But I just feel a bit bad because some people weren’t able to get. We don’t even have tickets ourselves actually (laughs),” he said.
