As the main star of the upcoming new kapamilya sweetcom My Papa Pi, Piolo Pascual said he welcomed the chance to do comedy again even if he is known more for his work in heavy drama.
“It’s a nice breather. I even surprised myself dito sa show. Ang sarap having a solid cast and a director na alam mong talagang fun. We all have the same intention and for me, ang sarap na hindi mabigat yung dala mo pag pumapasok ka sa set and pag nakakapagpatawa ka and nakakabigay ka ng ligaya sa paligid mo, it’s a nice feeling pabalik sa ‘yo. Hindi ko alam kung anong ini-expect sa akin dito pero bahala na si batman. Yun na lang,” he shared during the My Papa Pi mediacon.
Aside from My Papa Pi, Piolo is also busy working on the local adaptation of the South Korean series Flower of Evil this year.
“Magkasunod kasi na pinitch sa akin if I’m not mistaken. When this was pitched the first time I said yes right away and I also said yes right away to Flower of Evil not knowing kung ano yung papasukin ko. But getting into this project I thought it was going to be a walk in the park kasi pag nag-sitcom ka yun ang magiging breaker mo. So parang galing ako sa Flower of Evil na sobrang heavy drama, I was really scared. Pero after the first day and now, parang mahirap na siya pakawalan kasi parang ang sarap niya i-embrace because the things that you cannot do on a normal day especially sa drama, dito mo nailalabas yung kakulitan mo, yung pagiging creative mo. Yung just really thinking out of the box and just really growing still as a performer,” he said.
Piolo admitted enjoying the opportunity to play two totally different characters in his new projects.
“Pine-prepare ko na sarili ko sa pagpasok ko sa Flower of Evil kasi ibang iba rin yung characters may pagka-twisted. Pero I guess that’s the fun part of being an actor. You get to really portray different roles. So mahirap na masarap. Masaya especially when you are with this kind of family na talagang ayaw na namin maghiwa-hiwalay maski pack up na. So masaya ako. Otherwise nasa bahay lang ako naghahalaman. So maganda yung ganito na bago (laughs),” he added.
