After officially becoming a mother last year, Elisse Joson admitted that the arrival of her baby daughter Felize has only brought positive changes in her life.

“I think yung fulfillment na hinahanap ko for a long time, I think I found it by being a mother. And masarap talaga sa feeling. Actually, to summarize it, masarap sa feeling kasi you wake up to see your child… who looks up to you, and it feels great na wala siyang judgment sa ‘yo. She just loves you for who you are. Parang mararamdaman mo yun kahit baby pa lang siya. It feels really nice to love someone na galing sa ‘yo. And yung being hands on, I try to be as much as possible lalo na pag walang work. Both kami ni MCCoy (de Leon) we’re very hands-on with that kasi nga gusto namin kami yung makilala niyang nandiyan sa kanya taking care of her and loving her,” she shared.

Now that she is back working, acting in projects like the iWantTFC Original series The Goodbye Girl, Elisse said she is still trying to achieve work-life balance.

“Yun actually yung tina-try ko pa rin i-master. I think it takes time to learn how to balance things. Kasi prior to being a mom, yun yung isa ko ding struggle, yung pag-balance. Wala pa akong anak nun. But it’s hard for me to balance and prioritize schedules. Pero ngayon na meron na akong anak, I think that it’s going to flow naturally. Na parang kailangan mo kasi ma-juggle lahat. So yung mind ko nandun na talaga sa I have to think of what’s important to do for this day and then dun pa lang ako mag-mo-move forward. I don’t try to think of everything all at once kasi ang hirap gawin nun ng sabay sabay. But I think yun yung isa sa mga superpowers ng mothers, ang mag-balance at juggle ng mga bagay bagay,” she explained.

With the pandemic still ongoing and strict health and safety protocols still in place during lock-in shoots, Elisse said it is a challenge for her to be away from her family.

“That’s actually one of the biggest struggles na pinagdadaanan ko ngayon because of the work environment I’m in. But I just feel like if it’s the right project, if I feel like it’s going to give me growth in terms of career and in terms of myself personally, I think I would take it. With Felize naman, I would never think na pinapabayaan ko siya just because I’m going to be away for a while because of work,” she said.

Even with her new role as a parent, Elisse said she has not become pickier when it comes to roles and the effect is actually the opposite.

“I feel like mas nag-widen pa yung mga puwede ko gawin. In terms of characters and roles. Kasi before I felt so limited. Ngayon parang mas naging matapang na ako siguro in terms of that. But siyempre, depende na pa rin. There are going to be limitations for that. But now I don’t feel boxed. So mas gusto ko pang madaming iba-ibang character na gawin,” she added.
