When Rico Blanco first revealed that the presence of his girlfriend Maris Racal makes him feel happy because of her constant positivity, The Goodbye Girl actress said that she has her own special reasons for being happy about her current relationship.
“Para sa akin si Rico, ewan ko, if yung presence ko to him is like fun, happy vibe. Para sa akin talaga I feel security. I feel safe when he’s around and what’s what I like about being with him. Parang safe talaga yung feeling ko pag andiyan si Rico. Feeling ko any kind of problem or overthinking, pag sinasabi ko sa kanya, he always gives this logical reason kung bakit ko yun nararamdaman and unti-unti ko na naiintindihan yung self ko and whatever I was thinking. Gusto ko na may ganun sa buhay ko and I’d like to keep that around,” she admitted.
After going public with their relationship last year, the couple, who have a 25-year-age gap have become more open talking about their personal life. Maris said she looks forward to spending the future with her The Goodbye Girl co-star.
“I think parang feeling ko lang the more na mas tumagal kami, I know mas marami akong nilu-look forward sa relationship namin ni Rico and yung mga firsts namin and memories together. Lalo na may mga plans kami na na-put on hold muna because of the pandemic. We didn’t really get to go out as much and travel and all. So yun yung ni-lu-look forward ko more memories with him which is going to be a lot of fun and mas makikilala pa namin ang isa’t isa,” she shared.
One advantage to dating a fellow artist according to Maris is not having to worry about them misunderstanding why they can’t go out on Valentine’s day.
“Naku yung Valentine’s ko ngayon nag-wo-work ako so malayo ako kay Rico. Hindi kami magkasama. So yun yung Valentine’s day ko. Nagtatrabaho ako the whole day,” she admitted.
When it comes to music, Maris said she listens to any advice her boyfriend has for her. “Si Rico naman sasabihin naman niya yung totoo. Aside from myself, he’s my number one critic. So binibigyan niya ako ng mga comments and all and I take that to heart. Naiintindihan ko naman pag hindi niya gusto yung gawa ko pero na-a-appreciate ko. Thanks for always being honest,” she added.
Looking back on their first collaboration together in 2019 when Rico produced her single “Abot Langit,” Maris clarified that there were no romantic sparks yet at that time.
“Sa akin naman, at that time, wala naman akong any assumption or kung anong mangyari. Kinilig lang ako sa fact na naka-collab ko si Rico Blanco as isa sa mga idol ko sa OPM and yun lang talaga yung kilig ko. Wala ng anything more,” she admitted.
Maris finally revealed their relationship in May last year.
