cFollowing the success of Our Beloved Summer, one of its lead stars Choi Woo-shik talked about filming the series and his experience returning to the small screen.
Woo-shik plays the role of Choi Woong in the hit K-Drama. He stars in the series alongside Kim Da-mi who portrays the role of Kook Yeon-soon.
Our Beloved Summer follows the story of former lovers whose high school documentary went viral. The ex-lovers consequently got reunited to film a follow-up documentary ten years later.
In an interview with Naver and My Daily as translated by Soompi, the actor shared that doing a romantic comedy with Kim Da-mi has been a comfortable experience as they have worked together before on the film The Witch: Subversion.
"In romantic comedies and emotional romance dramas, chemistry with the other person is important, so I was excited to show off new chemistry in this drama. I was confident for some reason, and I thought, ‘I can do better than I did in The Witch: Subversion. I think this is because I am comfortable with Da Mi.”
The actor also got candid about filming sweet scenes with the actress in the series.
"I was comfortable because we are close, but I was also rather shy. Kim Da Mi is a friend who I contact and have been close with even after The Witch: Subversion. At first, it was a bit awkward to express physical affection, but I was luckily able to get into character quickly. It would have been really hard if I could not immerse myself into the character, but I was able to able to perform comfortably because she seemed more like Yeon Soo than Da Mi," he shared.
On the difference between his personality and his character in the K-Drama, Woo-shik relayed, "Unlike Choi Woong, I tend to be more honest. If I like something, I tend to express it a lot. However, it felt foreign to do so in front of a camera. Even though it was acting, I was a bit embarrassed for the first date scene."
