For the first time, comedian-host Vice Ganda admitted that he and his partner Ion Perez have been engaged since February 2020.
Vice made the surprising revelation in the Wednesday (February 16) episode of the noontime show It's Showtime, as he opened up about their wedding that happened in Las Vegas, Nevada in October last year.
According to Vice, he and Ion were in the US for his concert tour when they decided to go to Las Vegas and have a wedding ceremony there.
It's either magsusugal ka or magpapakasal ka... Wala, sobrang spontaneous nun. Buti nga merong slot doon sa pinuntahan naming Las Vegas chapel kasi kung hindi, hindi namin magagawa," he said.
It was at this point that the comedian revealed that he has actually been engaged to Ion for two years now.
Kasi okay, first time na namin iri-reveal. Wala pang pandemic," admitted Vice.
At the time, Vice said he was extremely scared and nervous that people would find out about their engagement, so he had their friends delete whatever videos and photos they took of that sweet moment.
In the program, Vice also shared how his perspective on love and marriage changed since he began his relationship with Ion.
According to the mainstay host, settling down and getting married were things that he never imagined he would want to do, until Ion came into his life and eventually asked his hand for marriage.
Pero sa akin, it's not for me.
I just want to celebrate our love for each other sa harapan ng mga taong nagmamahal sa amin, sa mga fans namin, kaya gusto ko engrande," he added.
Given the current circumstances, however, Vice was forced to let go of his dream wedding (at least for the time being) and settle instead on a much simpler and smaller ceremony—though he isn't complaining.
Sabi niya, 'Tara!' Tapos naghahanap kami, paano. So nagpa-book kami, may isa pang natitirang slot doon sa chapel. Five dollars," he said.
In the end, Vice said he is overwhelmed by the love and support he and Ion have been receiving since they revealed this huge milestone in their relationship.
"Sobrang bongga lang na parang it was celebrated by everybody. I personally thought it was going to be celebrated only by my fans, by my closest friends, by my family, by us. Pero nung cinelebrate, parang nakalimutan ng buong Pilipinas na nag-aaway away sila sa eleksyon nung araw na 'yun...I was just so so happy na ang daming nagmamahal sa aming dalawa and ang dami palang happy para sa amin," he said.
It was in October 2019 when Vice first confirmed his relationship with Ion, after a "Magpasikat" performance on It's Showtime,.
Since they announced their wedding, many have expressed their happiness and admiration for the couple, including their avid fans and celebrity friends.
