It’s been almost five years since he first came to the Philippines but Italian actor Nico Locco (Nicholas Timothy Fowler in real life) said his feelings for his adopted country have not changed at all even before he became part of the LGBT streaming platform Gagaoolala’s top streamed series Love At the End of the World.
“Pumunta ako sa Pinas noong 2017 dahil sa isang project with Nadine Lustre. Siya yung initial reason why nakapunta ako dito pero the reason I decided to live here actually wasn’t because of showbiz. Para sabihin ang totoo, I can act and live out my passion in Vancouver or Los Angeles, I’m that certain in my acting abilities. The reason I stayed here was because na-in love ako sa culture at mga Filipino at nakakataba ng puso kasi they welcomed me with open arms.
“From the moment na dumating ako dito I have never felt awkward any way. Well exception lang, confused ako dati when I would ask for directions and people would point with their mouths instead of pointing with their hands (laughs). Yun lang.
“A big part of the reason I decided to stay was because I felt at home and I could connect with Filipinos. Pinoys are very similar to Italians kasi sobrang friendly, family-oriented, God-fearing and generally happy people,” he shared during his launch as one of the new endorsers of Vine Aesthetics in Quezon city.
Even during his early teens, Nico said he has always felt a passion for acting.
“Even noong 13 years old ako and I was watching Top Gun with Tom Cruise, in that moment I knew I wanted to be an actor one day. I loved his confidence on-screen and the way he delivered his lines. Modeling is a great place to start for someone who wants to eventually enter showbiz and honestly majority of actors even in Hollywood once were models. Thankful ako sa years ko in modeling kasi it gave me confidence being in front of the lens and around people. Kaya when I transitioned to acting, mej sanay na ako emoting and working under pressure,” he admitted.
Having already been noticed for his acting prowess (including being the first non-Filipino Best Actor awardee at the 2019 Gawad Sining Film Festival Awards), Nico has also gained new blessings for his hard work in the past few years.
“Suwerte at grateful ako that brands continue to put their trust in me to represent them. I am a full-blooded Italian and one thing we value is family, which is similar sa mga Filipino. When I meet these brands and we begin working together, I treat them like they are my family and when you create that kind of atmosphere with people, it breeds trust. Trust that I will deliver and be a good representation of their company,” he shared.
