Following in the footsteps of previous Ginebra San Miguel calendar girls Pia Wurtzbach, Marian Rivera, Anne Curtis, and most recently, Chie Filomeno, Yassi Pressman was recently unveiled as the 2023 calendar girl for the local liquor brand. The 27-year-old actress and dancer shared how she felt about her latest endorsement during the GSM event last November 8 in Makati City.
“Being a part of such a great legacy is something that is going to be a milestone in my life. It’s really something special to be part of a company that serves world-class quality products, and it means a lot to me that they chose me to be a part of the brand,” she said.
Yassi admitted she had to think it over before accepting the offer to become a calendar girl.
“I really wasn’t prepared rin talaga. I think physically that’s number one, I was on vacation tapos kailangan ko bumalik and then kailangan in two weeks I would be ready to be on this calendar with millions of copies. So the pressure was there and I know a lot of people din who came before me were almost perfect. Pero sabi ko rin sa sarili ko, ‘Just go and be your healthiest version of yourself. Kung ano yung kaya mong gawin, go strive for your best because you’re only in competition with yourself. So do your best lang,’” she revealed.
Having gone through a challenging time in her life during the pandemic, the 27-year-old actress shared what went through her mind during that time.
“I think it was very public naman the fitness journey that I had to go through this year. I think it’s okay to let go sometimes. Feeling ko kasi minsan everybody is so pressured especially in our industry. Especially sa mga kababaihan, growing up with the standards of beauty. So at the at time, I just gave it up for a while. I gave it up for myself. Alam mo yung parang I didn’t care for a minute and then, I just needed that break. After that I started caring again because it was for my long term health naman. So I just needed that break and now that I’m getting back there so it’s a lot of discipline, a lot of working out. I love boxing and Muay Thai so I do a lot of those things,” she explained.
In preparation for the calendar shoot which had six different layouts, Yassi admitted that it came with a lot of sacrifices.
“Marami. Kailangan ko muna i-give up carbs (laughs). I went through a big fitness journey this year katulad nung pinakita ko din sa mga tao online. It was a lot of discipline for me, mentally and physically. But I feel good. I feel happy. I feel healthy, and I hope this also inspires people. It’s a lot of pressure and I hope people like it when they see it,” she said.
Yassi succeeds fellow Kapamilya actress Chie Filomeno who was the previous calendar girl for the brand this year.
