A Spice Girls reunion?

It was probably not the reunion that the iconic girl group’s fans were looking for, but the gathering was a testament to the friendship formed between Spice Girls members Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chrisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie Brown.

“A friendship for life,” captioned David Beckham, Victoria’s husband, of the video he posted on Instagram recently, where he captured four of the five girls dancing along to their hit song, “Say You’ll Be There”.

Although they have each pursued separate careers, their friendship remains solid. “Baby Spice” Emma, “Sporty Spice” Mel C, and “Posh Spice” Victoria were all present to celebrate “Ginger Spice” Geri’s 50th birthday.

“Special celebrating Ginger this weekend and even more special to capture this moment of the girls,” said David. “@officialmelb you were missed.”

While “Scary Spice” Mel B wasn’t there, it doesn’t mean she treasured the girls less.

“These amazing women have helped me become who I am,” Mel B once wrote in her Instagram post. “So to all the girls out there remember ‘friendship never ever ends’!!!”

Those who grew up in the ‘90s would attest to the worldwide phenomenon that was the Spice Girls. The British girl group was formed in 1994 and went on to make one hit song after another. The girls became the faces of girl power during that era.

Their albums Spice and Spiceworld sold millions of copies all over the world. Some of their famous songs include “2 Become 1”, “Wannabe”, “Stop”, “Spice Up Your Life”, and “If You Wanna Be My Lover”.

In 1998, Geri left the group to pursue a solo career and a couple of years later, the other girls also went their own way. They would get the group back together once in while, to the delight of their fans. “The Return of the Spice Girls” form 2007-2008 and “Spice World” in 2019 were both very well received and even earned them awards, cementing their place in music history.
