As one of the most vocal celebrities in the country when it comes to mental health, Maxene Magalona shared with her followers one of her goals in another social media post last October 4. The 35-year-old actress, who was last seen in the drama series Viral Scandal earlier this year, talked about healing from trauma in her post.

She wrote,

“Truth be told

“Trauma gets passed on unconsciously from generation to generation which then become cycles of unhealthy patterns because there is not enough awareness on these sensitive issues.

“We go through life on autopilot, pretending as though there isn’t anything wrong and just deny the fact that these mental health problems even exist. Having these kinds of conversations can bring up a lot of uncomfortable feelings because as a society, we didn’t really learn how to discuss these negative topics as we were conditioned to only talk about and celebrate the goodness in our lives. We generally don’t like dealing with negativity because it is scary, tabo,o and painful.

“Well, I guess it’s time for those of us who have the capacity and energy to speak up and finally shed light on these dark topics because if not now—when?

“I’m here to change the narrative and break generational cycles. While our generation is forever grateful to the older generations for all the sacrifices and hardships that they went through for us, it’s time for all of us to begin the healing process by learning and growing together. There is no competition here. The minute we start fighting and bickering at each other, we all lose.”

Before ending her post, Maxene also sent out positivity to her 2.6M followers on Instagram. “Let’s all heal and grow through love, pain, gratitude, discomfort and compassion.

“We can all do this. Let our collective healing be our gift to God as a way of giving thanks and showing our devotion to Him

“Sending love and healing from my heart to yours”

Maxene is the eldest daughter of the late rapper Francis Magalona and Pia Magalona. Her younger siblings include actor Saab, Elmo, and Frank Magalona.
