“Gen Z’s heartthrob” is what L’Officiel Hommes Philippines called Kapamilya actor Donny Pangilinan, whom they have chosen to grace the cover of their first edition.
L’Officiel Philippines is the country’s edition of a French magazine that has been in existence since 1921. This October 2022, the publication debuted L’Officiel Hommes Philippines, which is dedicated to highlighting menswear in the country. What used to be just a section of L’Officiel has now branched out into their own stand-alone magazine.
Their first edition “is dedicated to the young and unafraid”, and they see that Donny fits this description to a T.
“From fashion to family, Donny Pangilinan’s disarming earnestness makes you feel at ease,” said the magazine about Donny. “But you’d expect nothing less from Gen Z’s heartthrob aka ‘Internet Boyfriend’ of choice.”
“For the 24-year-old’s ‘always online’ fanbase, looks won’t quite cut it if you’re problematic,” it added.
The publication recognized Donny’s go-getter attitude, the type who finds happiness in the present yet looks forward to the possibilities yet to come.
Though he came from showbiz royalty, being the son of actress Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and grandson of Tony “the James Bond of the Philippines” Ferrer, Donny worked his way up from being a MYX VJ in 2016 to being the matinee idol that he is now. His tandem with actress Belle Mariano was welcomed wholeheartedly. So much so that they have had successful projects left and right, such as the iWantTFC series He’s Into Her that even went into its second season, the romantic comedy Love Is Color Blind, and their upcoming movie An Inconvenient Love.
Despite being active in his career, Donny managed to finish his studies and recently graduated with his bachelor’s degree in leadership from the College for Global Deployment.
Aside from that, he has also started construction of “Casa Donato”, which is what he calls his house.
Alongside Donny in the same issue is GOT7’s BamBam, who “constantly aims to reach new heights in his solo career.” In the issue, BamBam talked about the freedom of “finding his sound and style” as a solo artist.
On his end, Donny talked about trying things out of his comfort zone, not just in fashion but in his personal and professional life as well.
“With a huge emphasis on his styling, the young actor's go-to looks have shifted from streetwear to tailored and timeless pieces,” the publication added. “Discover more about Donny — his contentment with what he has right now and what’s next for his career.
