Thankful to finally get the chance to do a more lighthearted series after being part of more serious dramas like Walang Hanggang Paalam and The General’s Daughter, Paulo Avelino said he had fun playing the role of Janine Gutierrez’s leading man Andrei Legaspi in Marry Me, Marry You.
“It was nice to finally have a breather para maiba naman ng role na magaan gaan,” he shared during the the Marry Me, Marry You Finale media conference earlier this week.
After doing the series for the past four months, Paulo said he is ready to let his character go but not his friendship with the cast.
“Letting go of the character, actually mas mahirap yung sepanx na na-mi-miss mo yung fellow cast members dahil naka-bubble kami at araw-araw namin nakikita yung isa’t isa, sabay sabay kaming kumakain. So yun yung para sa akin medyo mahirap i-let go at hindi yung character kasi medyo hindi naman ganun kabigat yung character ko dito. Si Janine puwede ko naman i-text anytime. Like kahapon nagka-work kami for a short time,” he admitted.
Sharing what the most important lesson is about love in their show, Paulo said being in a relationship is more than just loving one person.
“Siguro yung one of the lessons that you can apply in real life is sometimes kasi you believe it’s just you and me against the world. Na parang, ‘Mahal kita, mahal mo ako, and that’s the only thing that matters.’ Pero ang totoo niyan, kailangan mo rin mahalin talaga yung nasa paligid ng taong minamahal mo. Whether they’re kind to you or not or whether they don’t like you. Walang talo kapag nagbibigay ka ng pag-ibig at pagmamahal at kasiyahan sa mga taong minamahal mo at minamahal ng mahal mo,” he explained.
After Marry Me, Marry You, Paulo said fans of Janine and himself can expect to see them in another project later this year.
“May pelikula kami na dapat lalabas ngayong February pero na-move dahil tumataas na naman yung cases natin, but hopefully it gets to be seen this year. I’m really proud of it,” he revealed.
