Movies, series to catch up on this 2022

2022 is off to a good start with a variety of movies and series to watch via streaming platforms in the comfort of one’s own home. 

In case you and your family are looking for new shows to watch, here are some of the latest offerings out there for every member of the household. 

1. And Just Like That (Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon)


Fans of Sex and the City were definitely thrilled with the announcement of some of the main characters’ reunion through its sequel And Just Like That. By now, you must have heard surprising twists already so if you miss the iconic characters of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes, played respectively by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, then you should catch up on the series on HBO Go via PLDT Home.  

2. F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers (Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree, Win Metawin Opas-iamkajorn, Tu Tontawan Tantivejakul, Dew Jiwarat Sutivanichsak, and NaniHirunkit Changkham)

Thailand’s very own version of the top-rated Boys Over Flowers series trended on Twitter Philippines during its premiere last December 19. It stars Thailand’s sought-after actors Bright Vachirawit and Win Metawin, who have grown popular among Filipino Boys Love (BL) fans since the two starred in the hit series 2gether and Still 2gether in 2020. Likewise, completing the rest of the F4 members are Dew Jiwarat Sutivanichsak and Nani Hirunkit Changkham, while actress Tu Tontawan plays the role of the female protagonist Gorya. F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers currently streams on iWantTFC, Kapamilya Online Live, Kapamilya Channel, and A2Z Channel 11. 

3. Gensan Punch (Beauty Gonzalez, Ronnie Lazaro, and Shogen)

Directed by award-winning Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, Gensan Punch is based on the true story of Naozumi Tsuchiyama, a Japanese national who flew to the Philippines in 2005 to train for boxing despite having a prosthetic leg. The film, which premiered at the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival last year, stars Beauty Gonzalez, Ronnie Lazaro, and Japanese actor Shogen. The movie is available on HBO Go. 

4. Saying Goodbye (Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin)

Saying Goodbye is among the top shows currently streaming on iQiyi. It stars Kapamilya love team Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin as Yeng Constantino fans Elise and Ricky who crossed paths and developed a special bond. SethDrea will make you laugh, cry and feel kilig in this beautiful story of friendship and love. 

5. Godzilla vs. Kong (Alexander Skarsgard and Millie Bobbie Brown)

Godzilla and King Kong fans are in for a treat as the fourth film in the MonsterVerse titled Godzilla vs. Kong has been officially released on Christmas day, December 25, on HBO Go. The movie is said to be the sequel to the 2019 Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie and the 2017 film Kong: Skull Island

6. The Silent Sea (Gong Yoo, Bae Doo-na, and Lee Joon)

Headlined by Korean stars Gong Yoo, Bae Doo-na,and Lee Joon, The Silent Sea is described as the first Korean space sci-fi thriller. According to producer Jung Woo-sungduring a media conference in 2021, “The Silent Sea is the story set in the future, and where the Earth is completely deforested and is suffering from shortage of food and water. So the agents are dispatched to the moon and were to collect a sample, and they are actually left abandoned on the abandoned research center on the moon.” It is currently among the top 10 shows of Netflix Philippines as of this writing.
