Almost a year since she officially made ABS-CBN her home network, Janine Gutierrez said she feels so lucky to have been given the lead role of Camille in the rom-com Marry Me Marry You as her first acting project in the network last year.

“The best. Sobrang saya and I’m really so thankful. Paulit ulit ko naman ito sinasabi pero matagal ko ng gustong makagawa ng rom-com and I’m so thankful to all our fans and sa lahat ng sumuporta from the beginning hanggang ngayon sa finale mediacon. Sobrang kinapitan niyo yung storya namin. I hope nabigyan natin ng saya yung isa’t isa ngayong huling three weeks na so sana walang bibitaw,” she admitted during the Marry Me Marry You Finale media conference last January 4.

Looking back on her kapamilya acting debut, Janine said she has already gotten attached to the entire Marry Me Marry You family.

“Actually masaya ako kasi nung first presscon with ABS-CBN, mag-wa-one year na yun. One of the things I said was sobrang excited ako na makilala yung kapamilya worldwide. Happy ako na naging connection kami ng lahat ng kapamilya worldwide sa kung paano talaga maging Pinoy. So ngayon ang mahirap talaga for me yung hindi mo na makikita yung mga mamang at madir mo at si papang at yung family mo. Yun yung talagang nagpaiyak sa akin nung mga last tapings namin. Kasi grabe yung samahan na nabuo namin. Parang naging pamilya talaga kami nila Ms. Pie (Picache), ate Shine (Dizon), Ms. Vina (Morales), Adrian (Lindayag) and si Papang. So yung family talaga na nabuo namin sa set yung nakakalungkot for me,” she admitted.

Being surrounded by veteran co-stars who play her parental figures in the series, Janine said she was given all the support she needed to feel comfortable on the set.

“Sobrang dami kong natutunan watching sir Jett (Pangan), tito Edu (Manzano), sir Lito (Pimentel), ate Pie (Picache), ate Shine (Dizon), Ms. Vina (Morales). Not just learning about acting but yung pakikitungo nila sa tao at yung alaga nila sa lahat. Sa crew, sa staff, sa amin. And yun talaga yung dadalhin ko sa susunod ko na project na kailangan mo talagang tratuhin na pamilya yung lahat ng kasama mo. Kasi at the end of the day, kapamilya naman tayong lahat and ramdam na ramdam ko talaga yung pagmamahal. And sa tingin ko yun din yung kinapitan ng mga fans at lahat ng nanuod ng Marry Me Marry You I’m so blessed to have been part of this show,” she explained.

For the recent holidays, Janine said she welcomed the New Year playing host to her family in her own home.

“We were complete dito sa bahay ko so nanuod lang kami ng fireworks sa roof deck and kumain, nagkuwentuhan. Parang wala akong nagawang mga bilog na fruits, puwede pa ba humabol? (laughs). Pero nag-polka dots ako. I’m so grateful kasi at this point talagang grateful ka na lang to be alive and to spend time with family. So iba din talaga yung meaning ng holidays ngayon,” she added.
