Gretchen Ho marked a new milestone in her career as a journalist after she wrote her first article published in a broadsheet.

Gretchen wrote a story about Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.

"January 1, 2022. My first ever article on broadsheet. A PURPOSE BIGGER THAN GOLD. What’s next for Hidilyn Diaz? What kind of pressure is there for a living legend like her to continue being the victor? Here is my first-hand account of the gold medal moment in Tokyo, and reflections from all my conversations with @hidilyndiaz before and after winning the Philippines’ first ever Olympic Gold," Gretchen shared.

The sports journalist expressed how ecstatic she was to see her work printed in a newspaper, The Philippine Star.

"Forgive the child in me for being so kilig over my first ever print article published on broadsheet! 😍🥰 Iba pala ang pakiramdam na nasa dyaryo 😅 Matagal-tagal din na pagtutuos ang aking ginawa para matapos ito, only to find the missing pieces in my latest conversation with Hidilyn," she said.

"Para din akong nagweightlifting dahil kalaban ko lang ang sarili ko. Even if it was very much outside my comfort zone, I forced my hyper self to sit down, recall, relive, and write what I think #Tokyo2020 really means for Philippine sports. It was too historic not to," Gretchen added.

After writing Hidilyn's story, Gretchen remarked that the Olympic gold medal "is just the beginning" for Hidilyn.

"She has A PURPOSE BIGGER THAN GOLD and I’m excited for all the things she’s going to accomplish, all the lives she’s going to influence and all the changes she’s going to make in Philippine Sports," she stated.
