Actress Danica Sotto revealed on Tuesday, January 18, that she had been infected with the novel coronavirus, but is now COVID-19 free.
In an Instagram post, Danica said she tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago, just two days after she received her booster shot.
"I thought side effects lang ng booster but when I woke up with sore throat and body aches, I knew I had to take another test. At 'yun na nga, nag-positive na," she said.
Aside from Danica, her kids with husband Marc Pingris also showed symptoms of COVID-19, she said.
"The kids started having symptoms 2 days after I had mine. They had sore throat, body aches and fever," she said.
"Thankfully Marc and our helpers/angels at home were spared at wala na nagkasakit pa."
In her post, the actress expressed her gratitude to all those who helped and prayed for her recovery, as she celebrates being COVID-19 free.
"I’m just so glad that it’s finally over! THANK YOU LORD!!!!" she said. "Thank you to our Super Dad @jeanmarc15 for taking care of us! Love you! Thank you to my family and friends who kept messaging us. Thank you so much for your prayers. Thank you to our Doctor friends at sorry sa pangungulit."
She also shared the lessons she learned from surviving her bout against COVID-19.
"Pray and stay strong! God is our healer and he wants us well.
“Having a healthy body is so important! Mas mabilis ang recovery and pls get vaccinated.
"Listen to your body. Get tested after a few days when you feel something is off or when you are exposed to someone who is positive.
"If you have no way of getting tested and you know you were exposed or might be positive, pls stay home! Mag self quarantine ka na.
"Get help. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Mas ok if may nasasabihan ka.
"Take your supplements like Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin C.
"Follow the quarantine guidelines. Even if you feel ok na, tapusin ang quarantine. Some symptoms show up after 2-3 days pa," she wrote.
To end her post, Danica gave her message to those who are still battling and recovering from the coronavirus.
"Sending virtual hugs and prayers to those who are still sick and recovering. Stay strong. God will help you get through your battles," she said.
Danica, 38, is the latest celebrity to announce that they have been infected with the virus, amid a fresh surge of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Currently, there are a total of 284,458 active cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, 28,471 of which were recorded just this Tuesday, January 16.
