After first entering showbiz as a housemate in last year’s Pinoy Big Brother: Connect where she was introduced as “Ang Brainy Balikbayan ng Laguna,” Quincy Villanueva said she never expected to come this far in the industry as part of Star Cinema x Kumu’s Metro Manila Film Festival entry Love at First Stream with director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

“To be honest talaga, the fact na kauna-unahang ko itong project as an actress, the entire experience is such a blessing and will be the biggest highlight of my 2021. Kasi it’s a lot of firsts na nangyari. So while I was there during my entire time na nag-shu-shoot as Issa Andrada, parang tini-take in ko lahat, parang pinagmamasdan ko  yung paligid. I saw how direk and the entire production team and all the other cast how they do their jobs and I just appreciate it so much na ang dami talagang mga factors para makagawa ng isang magandang proyekto. Lalo na it’s an official entry for the MMFF. Alam kong pinagpaguran ito ng lahat ng bawat individual na naging part ng team so it’s such an honor and a blessing to be part of a movie like this,” she shared.

Aside from acting, Quincy said she has also started enjoying live streaming just like the rest of her Love At First Stream co-stars.

“I like it because it’s the engagement that you get from our viewers. Kasi we’ve been given an awesome platform to get to know Filipinos from all over the world and [have] interactions with the friendships built, even if virtual lang yan nakakatulong pa rin especially during the pandemic. Nagkakaroon ka talaga ng confidence na may connection pa rin with people out there through Kumu and via livestream,” she explained.

Even though social media platforms often come with their fair share of trolls and bashers, Quincy shared how she handles those who try to bring her down when she goes live.

“Kumu is great because there are moderators [who] like mute them, kick them, and block and also theres Kumu Police that goes around to maintain a positive environment every streaming. But every time I come across such comments, I just sometimes don’t acknowledge them or when they keep spamming, I kind of just like—medyo pagtawanan na lang ng konti yung comment, to kind of just acknowledge it in a funny way. Yun lang,” she added.

Love At First Stream is now showing in theaters along with other MMFF entries. Starring Daniela Stranner, Kaori Oinuma, Anthony Jennings, Jeremiah Lisbo, Agot Isidro, Pinky Amador, and Quincy Villanueva. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
