Looking forward to working on more projects in the new year, actress Andi Abaya admitted that the past year was not the easiest year for everyone.

“Napakadami nating naging challenges for 2021 and papalapit na ang 2022 so I’m pretty sure a lot of us have learned from all these challenges we faced. The challenges we are facing right now, the loss of jobs, the shutdown. In this pandemic, we have all seen kung paano ito naka-apekto sa ating lahat and sa coming elections I hope we choose the right set of government officials. Kasi sa lahat ng pinagdaanan natin, ang dami nating natutunan and I hope that we can learn from all these challenges na sana in 2022 we can avoid it. Na matulungan natin yung bansa at matulungan natin ang isa’t isa and we can all recover slowly from everything that we have faced,” she said.

After being part of the iQiyi series Saying Goodbye and the upcoming film Caught In the Act, both with love team partner Kobie Brown, Andi said she looks forward to more blessings in the near future.

“In terms of my career naman, everything this year was a big surprise for me. Hindi ko in-expect na makakamit ko yung mga pangarap ko sa industriyang ito. Nung bata ako nangangarap lang ako noon and now that I’m here, I’m pursuing my dreams and achieving my goals when I was younger and I’m so grateful for it. And I hope for 2022 I will work hard to open more doors for me in this industry,” she said.

Having come a long way already since becoming Second Big Placer in Pinoy Big Brother: Connect last year, the 18-year-old actress shared what she has learned so far as part of the industry.

“What I learned is yung tiwala sa sarili, believe in yourself, and most especially makikita mo talaga kung paano ka magiging grateful knowing this is such a big project and kami yung pinagkatiwalaan ng management. So if they trust in us, we should trust in ourselves as well. And yung mga project na ganito sobrang madami kang matututunan because you work with great actors, great actresses, with a great team, a great production, and with a great director. And yun talaga yung mag-ko-contribute sa growth mo as an artist. So you have to be grateful for that growth that you have to achieve every time you have a project,” she said.

Aside from acting, Andi said she also wants to focus on her career as a singer and branch out to utilize her other talents as well.

“I also want to pursue my singing career because I was given the opportunity to have two singles a few months ago. And I really enjoyed doing it when I recording; I want to pursue it. But for now, of course, I’m focusing on my acting career and then I can practice my singing as well. And then in the future, I can also do dancing or maybe hosting. I want to explore this industry and I don’t want to limit myself in one talent lang,” she added.

Saying Goodbye is now streaming exclusively on iQiyi and www.iQ.com. Starring Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Andi Abaya, Kobie Brown, and Nio Tria. Directed by Dolly Dulu.
