After starring in films like Love The Way U Lie and Love Lockdown last year, beauty queen-turned-actress Kylie Verzosa takes on her most challenging role onscreen in the sexy thriller The Housemaid which is a local remake of a 2010 South Korean film.

“Sobrang nagustuhan ko kasi yung material to begin with. It’s medyo dark, medyo offbeat siya and yun yung medyo gusto ko kasing maging track ko. Known nga talaga ako as a beauty queen so it was not the usual choice for the usual beauty queen pero mahilig din talaga ako sa mga psychological thriller na genre and nung binigay sa akin ito and knowing na Cannes Film Festival entry pa siya (referring to the original film), then napa-yes ako sa kanya,” she shared during The Housemaid mediacon last September 7.

The 29-year-old actress said she did not hesitate to accept the role even with the sensual scenes she had to shoot with co-star Albert Martinez who plays her rich employer in the film. According to Kylie, her boyfriend Jake Cuenca was the first to encourage her to accept the project.

So parang it was isang factor yun sa pag-accept ko ng role. Pero ako mismo sa sobrang nagustuhan ko kasi yung materyal, it’s an award-winning material and ang ganda ng cast na binigay sa akin and ang gang ganda ng paggawa ni direk Roman Perez so sobrang it was a challenge talaga para sa akin yung film pero feeling ko nagawa naman namin ng mabuti,” she said.

Playing the role of a housemaid named Daisy who ends up being intimately involved with the man of the house she serves in the film, Kylie said she had to do a lot of preparations including setting aside her beauty queen persona in order to look credible onscreen.

With their film finally going to be released online this month, Kylie said she is proud of the work their cast did on The Housemaid.

“Sobrang excited pero at the same time na-nenerbiyos talaga ako kasi it’s my first time na ako talaga yung parang na-highlight nung Viva. Pero siyempre it’s the whole cast na makikita dito and collaborative naman yung film. So kinakabahan ako pero at the same time excited,” she added.

Watch The Housemaid on Vivamax starting September 10, Friday. Starring Kylie Verzosa, Albert Martinez, Jaclyn Jose, Louise Delos Reyes, and Alma Moreno. Directed by Roman Perez.
