Happy to be making his movie comeback after almost a decade, The Housemaid actor Albert Martinez said he could not resist being part of the remake of the South Korean film of the same name which also competed in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2010.

“I really wanted to do a comeback sa films. I’ve been absent for many years now. I’ve been doing a lot of TV series for the past nine years, I believe ten years. And when The Housemaid was presented to me, I saw the trailer of the original film and I saw the original film, I got so interested and excited about it and I really liked the character I played,” he said during The Housemaid mediacon last September 7.

Having first done sensual films in the ‘90s like Ekis, Lagarista, and Scorpio Nights 2, Albert revealed how the treatment of his sexy scenes with current co-star Kylie Verzosa is very different from that of his Scorpio Nights 2 co-star Joyce Jimenez in 1999.

“Si Joyce compared to Kylie, as far as the scene is concerned, mas inalagaan ko si Kylie. I was very, very careful. That’s why we did yung rehearsal namin, we talked about it. Ginawa naming precise. Kumbaga choreographed yung scene. Kasi the way we did it with Joyce it was totally different. We were given a scene, there was a camera and the director said, ‘Okay do this position and the movements and the rest is yours.’ So ganun yung ginawa namin with Joyce. With Kylie it’s totally orchestrated,” he explained.

Another challenge for Albert while doing The Housemaid was playing a character a decade younger than him in real life.

“I’m officially a senior citizen. I’m 60 years old with real white hair. But through the years kasi even when I was young talagang I’m into working out, eating properly, and not abusing myself. And I know ito yung investment namin dito sa industry we make sure to stay looking good. I guess that’s about it. Siguro konti about genes but then again it’s all about the discipline. My preparation physically, the requirement of the physique is compared to the original Korean actor, you really had to look fit because I’m playing a younger character. I’m playing a 50-year-old and I’m 60 years old so it’s totally different so that was very demanding. Good thing I was given enough time to prepare so that’s workout and diet at the same time,” he added.

Watch The Housemaid on Vivamax starting September 10, Friday. Starring Kylie Verzosa, Albert Martinez, Jaclyn Jose, Lousie Delos Reyes, and Alma Moreno. Directed by Roman Perez.
