With the recent announcement that the longest running reality show in the country  will be holding auditions for its latest season, Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10,  for adults starting September 1, no one could be happier than one of the show’s longtime hosts and former housemate Bianca Gonzalez who did not expect a new season to start so soon after PBB: Connect which ended last March.

“Siyempre nung nagbubuyuan kami after nung Big Night, siyempre hindi naman namin akalain na agad agad season ten kasi nga pandemya, ang daming pinagdadaanan ng kumpanya and ang hirap. Season nine was so difficult on so many levels. Most especially para dun sa team. So nung finally inannounce na, may mediacon na, nagka-reunion party kami last Friday via Kumu and dun ko talaga nalaman na totoo na talaga ito.

“Kasi in-announce na talaga and I think aside sa saya namin as a PBB family for the gratefulness to be together again, kita mo yung saya ng tao. May mga nag-re-reply na ‘Ako na, ako na ang susunog na housemate ni Kuya!’ or may mga fans na sobrang excited na sumaya, ma-inspire. kasi in the middle of everything na pinagdadaanan namin grabe yung joy, yung inspiration, yung hope na nabigay nung last season sa napakaraming manunuod. So yun yung isa pa talaga na effect na tuwang tuwa kaming lahat,” she said.

Having been with the show for so long, Bianca would be one of the first to defend it from those who say PBB is only for those who look like celebrities.

“Madami ding nag-tweet sa akin na naku puro’t maganda’t guwapo na naman ang kukunin mga ganyan and I think time and time again season after season, bonus para sa amin yung may biglang sisikat at mag-sho-showbiz after. Pero kapag kina-cast yung mga housemates, hindi yun yung goal.

“I’ve seen the casting process kasi and ang goal, ang top priority talaga is trying to get yung good mix. And kahit papaano TV show pa rin siya kaya siguro may napapasok na magaganda at guwapo. Which is also by the way relative kung ano ang maganda at guwapo. Pero bonus talaga na nagiging artista sila after kasi there are so many housemates na good looking pero hindi naman pinursue ang showbiz after. So it’s not an artista search but I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing na may mga nagbabago ang buhay at nagiging mga Kim Chiu at Melai Cantiveros after the season,” she explained.

Compared to when she first joined PBB during its first Celebrity Edition in 2006 when she was still single, Bianca shared she has come a long way to becoming a happily married woman with two children.

“Ang natutunan ko naman, ang tao iba iba ng level ng gusto nilang i-share sa publiko. Yung iba sobrang private, yung iba naman kahit bawat segundo ng araw nila shini-share nila. Ito fun fact, ang season nila Commander Nene 16 years ago so ang mga batang pinanganak nung season one puwede na mag-audition sa Teen Edition ngayon. Ganun na katagal (laughs),” she added.

ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Kumunity Season 10 begins its search for new housemates. To audition, hopefuls (20 to 40 years old) just need to download the Kumu app, create an account, and upload a one-minute Kumu clip where he or she will introduce oneself and say why he or she is deserving to become a housemate, and use the hashtag “PBBKumuAdults.”
