As the thrilling drama series Init Sa Magdamag enters its finale week this month, lead actor Gerald Anderson said he is proud of the work he and the entire cast have done on the series since it started last April.

“More than anything, sobrang grateful ako kasi alam ko yung pinagdaanan namin para magawa namin itong show na ‘to. And parang kung makuha namin lahat ng magandang comments, puri, quality ng show, sobrang fulfilling siya dahil alam ko yung sitwasyon kung saan kami nag-taping, anong klase yung sistema ng taping namin and parang kumbaga yung pagod, yung pawis na binuhos namin sa shoot sobrang fulfilling so we’re just happy na naging ganito yung outcome,” Gerald said.

Gerald said playing the role of doctor Tupe for almost five months gave him insight on just how fulfilling it is to be a medical health worker in the country.

Parang iba siguro yung pakiramdam na yun,” he shared.

After hearing of Filipino health workers staging protests during last National Heroes Day, Gerald echoed their sentiments and hoped they can be given what is due to them.

“I think ito talaga yung time na dapat alagaan sila, ibigay sa kanila kung ano yung dapat at kung ano yung kailangan nila because mentally and physically sobrang hirap ng sitwasyon nila. Nonstop eh.

So let’s be more respectful and sana kung ano man yun hinihingi ng medical workers natin sana maibigay. What more kung totoong doctor yun or nurse. More than anything, I think yung mga nurse sila talaga yung mga sundalo natin ngayon so sana ay alagaan natin sila,” he said.

Gerald said his role as a humble barrio doctor has taught him a good lesson about life. “It’s something na meron kami ni Tupe is despite yung mga hinaharap na challenges, lagi naman you have to stay positive so kaya siguro isa din yun sa sobrang nakaka-relate ako sa character ko na yun. Nothing really changed. It just made me realize more na huwag mo kalimutan yung core mo kung sino ka, kung ano yung pagkatao mo and just always stay positive,” he said.
