Reel-to-real life sweethearts Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla are happy about the reaction of their fans to the special documentary they released over the weekend in celebration of their 10th year anniversary as a love team.
The 90-minute video titled "KathNiel: Isang Dekada", which was uploaded on Kathryn's YouTube channel last Saturday, September 25, chronicled their journey both as actors and an onscreen tandem, from their humble beginnings in showbiz to how they became the most successful love team of their generation.
It featured never-before-seen clips of the couple, as well as interviews with Kathryn and Daniel's parents, friends, and fans.
"['Yung mga pictures and videos sa documentary], ito 'yung mga never pa nila nakita, hindi namin ni-release for the past 10 years. But we decided to share some of course, kasi dito namin nakikita kung paano kami tumanda ni DJ over the years," said Kathryn during the press conference for their upcoming series 2 Good 2 Be True on Monday, September 27.
"Tinabi ko talaga 'yun, ma-picture kasi ako. Tapos hinagilap sa baul lahat ng mga pictures. So I'm very happy kasi natuwa naman 'yung mga fans kasi we really made this documentary for them. Kasi we want them to know how grateful we are and kung gaano namin naa-appreciate 'yung journey na 'yun kasama sila. So nakakatuwa kasi marami rin kaming na-interview ng fans at parte sila talaga ng docu," she added.
DJ, for his part, said he's glad that he and Kathryn were able to take their fans on a trip down memory lane through their special documentary, which has already garnered more than 1.5 million views and 168,000 "likes" as of this writing.
"Talagang roller coaster ng mga memories ang nabalikan namin ni Kathryn doon at naikwento namin sa mga tao. Ang dami naming nai-kwento doon na hindi pa namin naikwento dati at doon lang nila narinig at nalaman," he said.
"Ang sarap balikan nung masasayang memories na naganap nung mga taon," he continued. "So, yeah. Ang saya, ang sarap balikan. And wow, doon sa kinuha namin, ang dami naming mga videos with the fans na grabe, hindi mo na napansin at doon mo lang ulit nakita kaya ang sarap balikan."
Meanwhile, the couple, who admitted they were in relationship in 2018, said they still are still in disbelief that a decade has already passed since the start of their journey as a love team.
"Grabe, ang bilis lahat nangyari 'yun. And actually, 'yun 'yung sinabi namin nung ginagawa 'yung documentary. Doon lang namin naramdaman na, oh my God, sampung taon na pala. Hindi namin 'yun napansin kasi in-enjoy namin 'yung 10 years na 'yun," said Kathryn.
The actress added: "But of course, hindi lahat nakaka-tungtong ng 10 taon kaya napaka-swerte namin na andito pa rin kami ni DJ at may opportunity kami to make more memories and more years together."
As part of their 10th-anniversary celebration, Kathryn and Daniel will star in the upcoming ABS-CBN series 2 Good 2 Be True. The series is directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, who helmed the couple's films Crazy Beautiful You in 2015 and Can't Help Falling In Love in 2017. Except for its genre, which is romance-comedy, no further details about the project were given. A target release date wasn't also announced, with KathNiel only teasing that the show is coming soon.
