Actress Janella Salvador has admitted to having undergone liposuction after giving birth to her first child Jude Trevor last year.
The young mom made the revelation in an Instagram post she uploaded on Sunday, September 26, where she said that getting the procedure done was the best decision she's ever made for herself.
"Story time! When I was pregnant with Jude, I promised myself that I would never forget self-care. I said I would take the time to do things that I love. Happy mum, happy family, right? But like many things in this world… it’s easier said than done," Janella began.
"I lost all the remaining ‘vanity’ that I had in me the moment Jude came into my life. My life revolved around him. Even just a trip to the grocery made me feel guilty because I felt like I could be spending time with him instead. I felt like I had to be with him 24/7. I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed every moment and I still do. But in those first few months, I physically did not feel like myself," she admitted.
According to Janella, who gave birth in October 2020, she would often wear big coats, robes, and loose clothing to hide her body. At the time, the actress had gained an extra 40 lbs due to lack of sleep and overeating.
She went on: "I did not like what I saw in the mirror but paid no attention to that. Of course, gaining weight is totally normal after giving birth… but there comes a time where you want to be healthy and regain your strength.
"My goal has always been to be strong enough to take care of the household so I did not want to resort to unhealthy crash diets. Working in a physical industry that relies so much on looks didn’t help with the pressure either. I knew that eventually, I needed to start working again."
Janella said it was doctor to the stars Vicki Belo who suggested and convinced her to undergo liposuction. She admitted that she was initially hesitant about the idea, but after many talks and assurances from the celebrity cosmetologist, she decided to finally say yes.
"Best decision ever," she added.
The actress went on to thank Vicki and her husband, doctor Hayden Kho, for helping her regain her self-confidence and jumpstart her fitness journey.
"I am finally starting to see the woman I want to see in the mirror once again. I also want to give myself a pat on the back for taking the initiative to exercise as well," Janella said.
She also shared some inspiring words for her fellow mothers.
"Enjoy every part of your journey and don’t pressure yourself. At the end of the day, what matters most is the health and happiness of your baby. But don’t forget to take steps towards your own happiness," she said.
Just last July, Janella wowed her social media followers as she shared her progress in achieving her post-partum weight loss goal.
Sharing photos of herself in a swimsuit, the actress said: "I still have 13 pounds to go. But why not? I’m proud of my progress. Let’s go, momma."
The 23-year-old actress revealed being a first-time parent with her boyfriend, actor Markus Paterson, in January this year, through a vlog they released titled "Hey, Jude."
The couple has been dating for more than two years. They celebrated their second anniversary last March.
