Shamcey Supsup took to social media to open up about her recent battle with COVID-19.
Shamcey shared that after contracting the disease a few weeks ago, she is now COVID-free.
"What we all thought was just a simple flu turned out to be covid. It came as a shock because we were all fully vaccinated but we still got infected and even had mild to moderate symptoms," she said.
Shamcey added, "I would describe it as a really really bad flu. It was also the first time that I've experienced a total loss of smell and taste. Lucky enough, we were able to get better at home."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, vaccine breakthrough cases are to be expected especially in light of new variants of COVID-19.
“However, there is evidence that vaccination may make illness less severe for those who are vaccinated and still get sick. The risk of infection, hospitalization, and death are all much lower in vaccinated compared to unvaccinated people,” the agency explained.
Shamcey also extended her prayers to everyone amid the pandemic.
"Praying for everyone's safety and for the pandemic to end soon," she stated.
