As the Tokyo 2020 Olympics concluded on Sunday, August 8, weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz looked back on her Olympic journey.
The Filipino athlete admitted that she was filled with worries prior to the Olympic event because of the pandemic.
"Thank you God sa lahat, aaminin ko nabuhay ako with doubts, takot, at anxiety sa puso ko simula nun lockdown last March 2020 hanggang sa matapos laro ko nun July 26, 2021," she shared.
Nonetheless, Hidilyn remarked that how the Olympics turned out for her is a testament that we can overcome anything.
"Ang daming nangyari sa buhay ko at sa buhay natin lahat na binago ng pandemic di natin sukat akalain matutuloy ang Olympics at di natin sukat akalain maiuwi ko ang gold medal para sa Pilipinas, basta ‘wag tayo sumuko laban lang sa buhay. Kaya natin to!" she stated.
Hidilyn extended her gratitude to Japan and to the people who helped her on her Olympic journey.
"Thank you Japan, @olympics @olympic.ph @phil.sportscommission #SWP @philippineairforce #TeamHD and private sponsors @mvpsfph @alsonspower Filipino community and Malaysian friends and family who helped us in Malaysia @janius5.11 @official_mswp.wipers for making it happen, kahit maraming tumutol pinakita ng Japan kaya nila i-host ang Olympics, napatunayan nila na kaya basta sama-sama tayo," she wrote.
She added, "Thank you @tokyo2020 🇵 di kita makakalimutan."
