Born Mara Hautea Schnittka, Julia’s upcoming stint on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano will be her second acting project since she went on hiatus in 2018.
While her character has yet to be revealed, fans believe she will take on the role of Coco’s newest leading lady on the show.
It can be recalled that she took on the lead role of the weekly action-drama 24/7 in February 2020. The show had to halt filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic coupled with the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.
She was also set to star in the Dreamscape Entertainment series Burado alongside Nadine Lustre, Zanjoe Marudo, and Paulo Avelino. But the show eventually got canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
In an interview with G3 San Diego, the actress revealed she had always wanted to take a break from the limelight even before she did Asintado.
“Before Asintado, gusto ko na (umalis). Sinasabi ko na, parang gusto kong puntahan si Papa. Parang gusto ko i-try lang ‘yung magpahinga lang du’n (sa Germany)," she said.
“Ta’s ang joke ko, gusto kong magpakaanak lang. ‘Yung ‘di ako magwo-work, ta’s anak lang ako muna. And then ‘yun nga, after Asintado, sabi ko, parang gusto kong i-fill ‘yung missing years with Papa. Kasi ang tagal, eh. Hindi ko ine-expect na magkikita kami,” she added.
Ever since the announcement of Julia’s upcoming participation in Ang Probinsyano, fans have continued to express their excitement, as it marks not just her comeback but also her reunion with former onscreen partner Coco Martin.
The two worked together in the now-defunct top-rating teleserye Walang Hanggan back in 2012, as well as other projects including the film A Moment in Time.
"Siguro kung ico-compress ko into words it is more of blessed lang talaga and honored to be part of this big project... And 'yun lahat po kasi ng bumubuo eh. Hindi po siya aabot ng six years kung hindi lahat hindi binigay 'yung puso nila, 'yung puso niya (referring to Coco Martin) so alam ko ang sarap ng magiging journey at marami rin akong matututunan," Julia said in an interview with ABS-CBN Entertainment.
"'Yung pressure gusto kong ma-meet 'yung expectation niya at ng lahat ng team kasi lahat talaga dedicated. And I'm just so proud of him sa lahat ng na-achieve niya ngayon from before then ngayon na lahat na talagang tutok siya. So I'm just happy to be part of that project and creative side of [him]," she added.
They last worked together in Wansapanataym's Yamishita's Treasures back in 2015.
