A known animal lover and animal welfare advocate, TV journalist Korina Sanchez celebrated not just International Dog Day this month but also paid tribute to one special furry member of her family, her senior dog Kolette. In her Instagram post last August 26, Korina shared just how much her pet has inspired her through the years.
She wrote, “I didn’t like dogs. Until I met Kolette ten years ago. She was my practice before deciding to have actual kids. Choosing among several pups, once she was put on my lap, life was never the same again. I instantly loved all dogs in the world. And then all animals.
“Kolette inspired me to rescue maybe 2,000 animals from the streets since ten years ago, and got adopted maybe more than half that number. I created a foundation for animal welfare, put up a shelter, held fundraisers from here and abroad —- and have met some of the most amazing dogs who have given us humans so much love and richer lives. Never to be forgotten.
“Thank you Kolette for being the inspiration to caring for your kind, the kind that is better than us human beings in so many ways and occasions. I wish for you to be with me for a very, very long time.
“On International Dog Day, I dedicate this moment to my alpha, my first born, my furever baby and buddy. Wishing for the end of cruelty to, neglect and suffering of dogs anywhere and everywhere. #DogsAreHappiness #AdoptAPetFromK
During National Aspin Day last August 18, Korina shared a portrait taken with her pets at home which were comprised of 10 dogs. The 56-year-old veteran host and animal lover encouraged her followers to consider adopting aspins in the post. She wrote, “I have many rescued dogs and some cats, from the streets to a small shelter I operate. I care for them and get them adopted into loving homes.
“But in this photo are my home pets! Dami ba? If I could have more I would! 3 schnauzers, a pom, a chihuahua, a shihtzu, 2 labs and... 2 aspins I rescued from the streets! Princess and Trina all the more convince me that aspins could be the most loving, loyal, smart and resilient dogs you could have in your family. Life has been so much richer because of my adopted rescues.
If you want more love in your life and would like to give a poor, loving hut homeless rescued aspin a family, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will make it easy for you and I give away an adoption kit pa to the adopter. Complete w dog bed, bowls, collar and leash, vitamins etc!”
Last year, Korina rescued an puppy from euthanasia from a local vet clinic and made a public call for adopters for the abandoned furbaby which received an overwhelming response from prospective adopters.
