Congratulations are in order for Katarina Rodriguez, who is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, businessman Niño Barbers.
The beauty queen-turned-actress shared the exciting news in her newest YouTube vlog uploaded on Monday, August 9, entitled "We have an announcement."
The video starts with the actress joking that she hasn't had her period in almost nine months and taking a pregnancy test to confirm if she is pregnant.
"I've been telling Niño I think I'm pregnant for a while now and he just keeps saying I'm probably not and I'm just overthinking. But I told him that we've been living together for almost two years and, you know..." an admittedly nervous Katarina said while waiting for the result of her pregnancy test.
The test eventually turned out to be positive. In the next clip, Katarina is seen breaking the big news to her partner, only for her to reveal seconds later that she has been, in fact, pregnant for several months now, as is evident from her huge baby bump.
"Hey, everyone. It's Katarina, and I'm so excited to finally share the big announcement that I have. The secret I've been keeping for the past seven months, eight months... And that secret is I'm pregnant!" she said later in the video.
Katarina then shared a series of clips documenting her pregnancy journey, including an ultrasound video of her baby, as well as clips from what appears to be her baby shower in Siargao, which was attended by her close friends, including actress Andi Eigenmann.
Following her big announcement, fellow beauty queens and actresses congratulated her on social media, including Liza Soberano, Vicki Rushton, Megan Young, Winwyn Marquez, Ria Atayde, Jezha Huelar, Alyssa Muhlach, Ariela Arida, Laura Lehmann, Emma Tiglao, and Valerie Weigmann.
Katarina, 28, rose to fame after placing third in the second season of the hit competition Asia's Next Top Model in 2014. In 2017, she was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, and later represented the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental pageant, where she placed first runner-up.
She eventually ventured into acting, her breakout role being Rio Isla in the hit ABS-CBN series Make It With You, which starred Liza and her onscreen partner Enrique Gil.
