After the announcement of her latest project Love at First Stream with Star Cinema, Cathy Garcia-Molina talked about her retirement plans from directing. Direk Cathy first announced her retirement plans in 2018.
“Actually, ito yung last sa kontrata ko. This is the last of my three-picture contract deal with Star Cinema. So tinatapos ko and ito yung movie. Kung magkakaroon ng kasunod hindi ko alam. God knows when and hindi ko alam. Pero ito muna yung last ko sa kontrata ko. But I’m not saying this is the last movie I will ever do. But for my contract, yes. This is the last,” she revealed during the Love at First Stream cast announcement last July 8.

Despite this being the end of her current contract with Star Cinema, direk Cathy clarified that this does not mean she is saying goodbye to directing permanently.
“Hindi naman ako magsasara, hindi final yung salita na wala na, posible pa pero I cannot promise when. Kasi una, may kuwento bang maganda for them, magkikita ba schedule namin? And pangatlo kaya pa ba ng katawan ko? (laughs),” she admitted.
With her latest project starring newcomers like Kaori Oinuma, Rhys Miguel, Daniela Stranner, and Anthony Jennings, direk Cathy said she tries her best to prepare them to headline a major project.
“All I tell them is that when they get to my set, they should forget everything that they have learned. So, they come to me as a newbies, they come to me as fresh. Unlearning everything kasi with me they will learn. Kasi pag puno na sila ng learnings wala ng space for the learnings na matutunan nila sa akin. So, all I ask from them is be empty. I don’t care kung ano performance binigay nila noon kasi on my set it’s always a first time. It’s always a new performance,” she explained.
