It’s a sad day for shippers of TWICE’s Momo and Super Junior’s Kim Heechul as the two K-Pop stars have officially broken up.
Earlier today, the agencies of the two artists — SJ (the Super Junior label under SM Entertainment) and JYP Entertainment — confirmed with Sports Donga the split of the couple following statements from industry sources.
“We’ve checked with the artist, and it is true that they broke up,” the two agencies said, as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi. SJ added: “Please understand that we cannot answer the details of it as it is the artist’s private life.”
In an interview with Star Today, the source said the breakup stemmed from the busy schedules of the two artists.
“From what I know, they drifted apart due to each of their busy schedules, so they ended their romantic relationship and returned to being colleagues and having a senior-and-junior relationship,” the source told Star Today, as translated by Soompi.
While the couple previously denied the dating rumors, the two eventually confirmed their relationship in 2020. The couple dated for more than a year and a half.
Other members of TWICE — the South Korean girl group of which Momo is a part of include Nayeon, Jeongyon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
It is the girl group behind the hit tracks “TT,” “FANCY,” and “LIKEY,” among others.
Meanwhile, Heechul is part of Super Junior, with other members Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun.
Super Junior is the K-Pop group behind the songs “Sorry, Sorry,” “Black Suit,” and “Mr. Simple,” among others.
