Showbiz veteran Sharon Cuneta is on a roll.
The actress, dubbed as the country's "Megastar", is currently gearing up for her first-ever teleserye to be produced by ABS-CBN with Viva Entertainment.
Kapamilya Online World, a fan page dedicated to ABS-CBN shows and artists, recently made the announcement via an Instagram post, which Sharon later shared on her page, confirming the exciting news.
It was last October, during the press conference for her joint concert with Regine Velasquez, Iconic, when Sharon first mentioned the possibility of doing a teleserye with ABS-CBN.
At that time, the actress-singer had just made it publicly known that she has been considering "semi-retiring" from showbiz to enjoy a more private life.
“Actually, sabi ko po kasi noong in-announce ko na magri-retire in a couple of years, nagulat ako kasi nagdagsaan ’yong mga offers pati sa concerts. Ta’s bumalik ’yong TV show... Tita Cory (Vidanes) also brought up the possibility—only possibility palang ’cause I’ve never done yet—of a teleserye in ABS-CBN. Kasi may serye in the other station was a comedy. But here, pag natuloy ’yong plano—sana matuloy—then it will my first ever [teleserye]," she said in a report published by entertainment site PikaPika.ph.
Sharon, 55, was most recently seen on television as one of the judges in the ABS-CBN celebrity competition Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3.
She will soon star in the movie Revirginized under Viva Films, where she has given life to a character that is a far cry from all her roles in the past.
The upcoming film was written and directed by Darryl Yap, who is known for the controversial themes of his movies such as Tililing and Jowable.
Aside from Sharon, Revirginized also stars Marco Gumabao and Rosanna Roces, together with Albert Martinez and Cristina Gonzales. It will stream on Vivamax starting August 6.
