A popular leading man is set to join the cast of the ABS-CBN inspirational series Huwag Kang Mangamba, producer Dreamscape Entertainment announced on Monday, July 26.
"Makilala mo na siya sa #HuwagKangMangamba! Soon!" Dreamscape wrote as caption to a teaser trailer it released on its social media pages, showing glimpses of the mystery celebrity billed as "the star", "the actor", and "the leading man".
Many of the guesses pointed to Ian Veneracion, whose last television project with ABS-CBN was the 2020 primetime series Make It With You.
Starring Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, the series is one of the Kapamilya shows that was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the government shutdown of ABS-CBN's broadcast operations on account of its lapsed franchise.
Meanwhile, other names who came up were Piolo Pascual, Aga Muhlach, John Lloyd Cruz, Jericho Rosales, and even Gerald Anderson, who is currently seen on TV via the sexy drama Init Sa Magdamag.
Huwag Kang Mangamba stars Francine Diaz and Andrea Brillantes, together with their fellow Gold Squad members Kyle Echarri and Seth Fedelin.
The inspirational drama tells the story of two girls who die in an accident but miraculously come back to life at the same time.
"Bro" crosses the paths of Mira (Andrea), a blind orphan girl, and Joy (Francine), a misunderstood teenager, and leads them to renew the faith community of a small town called Hermoso. In the course of their mission to rebuild the church, they also uncover the secret of their own identities.
Huwag Kang Mangamba also stars Sylvia Sanchez, Eula Valdez, Mylene Dizon, RK Bagatsing, Nonie Buencamino, and Diether Ocampo. The show airs weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, TFC, Kapamilya Online Live, iWant TFC, WeTV, and iflix.
