Ji Chang-wook, who is known for his role in various hit Korean dramas and films, has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
Currently filming the Netflix original series The Sound of Magic or Annarasumanara, the 34-year-old actor underwent testing which yielded a positive result for the contagious disease.
Earlier today, July 26, Chang-wook’s agency Glorious Entertainment released a statement on the matter. As of this writing, the actor is currently in “quarantine and receiving treatment” as per guidelines imposed by health authorities.
“Ji Chang Wook has tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with health authority guidelines, he is in quarantine and receiving treatment,” said Glorious in its statement as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi.
JTBC News, on the other hand, reported that the cast and crew of the upcoming drama are currently being tested for COVID-19. Meanwhile, filming for the highly-anticipated drama has been put on halt for the meantime.
In the past couple of weeks, various Korean celebrities have been reported to have tested for COVID-19 including BTOB member Lee Min-hyuk, Treasure’s So Jung-hwan and Doyoung as well as K-pop girl group Lovelyz member Seo Ji soo, K-pop boy band Noir member Kim Min-hyuk and K-pop boy band Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu.
Ji Chang-wook is known for his roles in dramas such as Suspicious Partner, Backstreet Rookie, and Lovestruck in the City.
