Although fans know her in roles like Cassie in Kadenang Ginto and Joy in Huwag Kang Mangamba, Francine Diaz admitted her latest film role as Lea in director Rae Red’s new thriller Tenement 66 was big acting challenge for her because of how different the character was.

In her first project without fellow Gold Squad members Andrea Brillantes, Kyle Echarri, and Seth Fedelin, Francine said she appreciated the experience with co-stars Francis Magundayao and Noel Comia.

Dito at first nakakapanibago pero habang tumatagal nakakatuwa kasi nagkaroon ako ng bagong friends and of course bagong environment din yung set, yung staff, lahat,” she said.

With the film also currently part of this year’s Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), under the Bucheon Choice category, Francine said she almost couldn’t believe it at first.

Malaking blessing ito sa aming lahat,” she said.

If not for the current pandemic, Francine said she would have wanted to fly to Korea to attend the film festival and represent the country at the event which runs from July 8 to 21. Nakakatuwa siguro kung wala talaga yung COVID ngayon, mas naririnig ko yung dami ng tao, yung cheer nila and of course yung mga Filipino supporters natin,” she added.

Tenement 66 stars Francine Diaz, Francis Magundayao, and Noel Comia. Directed by Rae Red. It is now available for streaming on iWant TFC.
