With a showbiz career spanning over 45 years, Carmi Martin said she has been blessed she is to be able to pursue her craft up to this day after starting out as a co-host on the now defunct variety show Student Canteen in 1976.
The 57-year-old actress is currently part of the new digital series GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes on the new Puregold channel online. The series, which is director Don Cuaresma’s homage to the ‘90s sitcom Palibhasa Lalake, brings Carmi back to her comedy roots.
“Ako dito si Aling Perly. Ako yung landlord nila na half-Korean, half-Pinay. Kumbaga doon sa Palibhasa Lalake ako si Gloria Romero,” she said.
During Puregold’s GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes media con, Carmi revealed what has kept her looking ageless all these years.
“Umpisa niyan dapat yung peace of mind is very important talaga and yun nakukuha ko dahil sa aking personal relationship with the Lord.
Yung talagang paglalabanan ko as much as I can na maiba pa rin,” she shared.
In the digital series which also stars Jerome Ponce, Nikko Natividad, and Dave Bornea as the tenants at her boarding house, Carmi shared how things have changed through the years compared to her days of having a sexpot image in ‘80s sitcoms like Chicks to Chicks and Chika Chika Chicks.
I’m just really happy to be part of it. I really love my role. I really embraced it.
The eight-episode digital series GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes is now available for streaming on Puregold Channel’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
