Known for directing Star Cinema blockbusters like Hello, Love, Goodbye, The Hows of Us, She’s Dating the Gangster, and Four Sisters and a Wedding, director Cathy Garcia-Molina takes on her first film project this year with the Star Cinema and Kumu’s first collaboration in the digital film Love At First Stream.

“Malaking part ng mundo natin kasi ngayon ang social media lalo na ang streaming and Kumu is the pinakasikat ngayon. So thank you Kumu for letting us use the platform para mas maikuwento natin yung gusto natin sabihin about the generation. This is a story not about streaming. This is a story about life and love that used streaming as a platform. May mga streaming eksena but the story is not about that. It’s beyond that,” she shared during the Love at First Stream cast announcement media con.

Working with two of the country’s newest love teams in the film, direk Cathy said she has faith in KaoRhys (former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Kaori Oinuma and Rhys Miguel) and Danthony (Daniela Stranner and Anthony Jennings).

“I was given a lot of new pairings. Not necessarily new actors but new combinations and thank God na tinanggap ng mga manunuod natin ang mga love teams na inihain natin sa kanila. Kasama na diyan siyempre ang John Lloyd (Cruz)-Sarah (Geronimo) na first time nagtambal sa pelikula. Meron kang Forevermore with Enrique (Gil) and Liza (Soberano). So heto na naman. Bago na naman.

“Excited ako lagi makatrabaho ang mga bagong bata. Kasi sila mga sponge pa. They absorb and they’re willing to learn. Para pa silang mga blank canvases na ang sarap ipinta. Kaya basta sila ay hindi matigas ulo ay magiging maayos ang ating pagsasama (laughs),” she shared.

Direk Cathy and Anthony first met on the set of her 2019 film Hello Love, Goodbye where he played the role of Alden Richards’s youngest brother.

“Si Anthony had a very different experience with me. Nung ginagawa ko yung Hello Love, Goodbye I hardly met the boy. Konting chika chika tapos mag-te-take na. And you know, ito yung siguro sa medyo amazed ka kasi he delivered. Napabilib ako ni Anthony,” she recalled.

The Star Cinema director said she also has high hopes for Daniela. “Ang ganda ganda ng mukha. Pag nalaman ng tao at nakita nila ang kayang ibigay ni Daniela, they would love her too. She’s a good actress and she will be one of the better ones,” she added.

As for her other two stars, PBB alumni Kaori and Rhys, direk Cathy has equally positive feedback.

“Kaori is very pleasant. She also emits good vibes. Yes she can act too. Parang volcano, getting ready to erupt anytime. I see potential in Rhys. Well guwapo, magaling magpa-kilig. I know you’re happy to have been selected for this movie but I know you are scared too because kung magiging worthy ba kayo to be in this movie. Will people accept you? Will people find you worthy to be the lead stars of this movie? But don’t worry, I am here precisely to direct you. I will be your kakampi basta pumunta kayo sa set with that level of passion for the story we are going to tell and I’ll be there to guide you. Together we will do this,” she said.

Love at First Stream is scheduled for release later this year.
