“Actually, out of everyone, I’d say yung mommy ko yung pinaka-strict—compared to how my lola was with my mom. Parang hindi naman siya ganoon ka-strict with me. I don’t know if it’s kasi maybe she already let out all her strictness sa mommy ko.
“So, ngayon, di na siya gaanong stage lola. But I definitely say, my mom is strict. Actually, they’re pretty okay naman. They let me do own things, trust me,” natatawang kuwento ni Lorin sa PUSH.
“He said there’s gonna be a lot of hard work to put into it, kasi siyempre, before my tito was working so much, he wouldn’t come home until mga 6 a.m., ganun. And he just said drink a lot of coffee and be ready for the long hours of waiting on set.
“Sabi din niya na it’s not all glamor, it’s a lot of hard work, a lot of long hours and there’s a lot that goes into it so definitely to be ready for all of that. Not just all the glitz and glamour but also the time you have to wait on the set for five hours, six hours—waiting for the next take,” wika pa niya.
“He told me to, ‘Save your money, make wise investments. Just because you’re successful, you shouldn’t spend everything immediately,’” lahad ng panganay ni Ruffa.
Pagbabahagi ni Lorin, “I think that the best advice that my lolo gave me is that, ‘If you’re gonna do it, do it because you love it.’ My lolo has been an actor for so many decades and even until now, when he has a role, he still takes it because of his love for the craft. And kasi he really does love acting.
“And he said that when you love acting, it will show through your performances onscreen. And he told me to always remember that passion. Hindi lang siya job, it’s also something that you love to do—it’s a passion, it’s a hobby, it’s an art. It’s more than just a job or a title.
“It’s more than the followers, it’s more than the endorsements. At the end of the day, it’s really you and your art. I think that’s the best advice he gave me kasi he reminded me what acting really is about.”
