It has been two years since actor Matteo Guidicelli became the first celebrity to complete a tough course with one of the Philippine Army’s elite forces.
On Tuesday, June 29, Matteo marked two years since he finished the 30-day Scout Ranger Orientation and Leadership Development Course by sharing photos of his training and graduation on Instagram.
"2 years since my Ranger training. Wishing all the best and praying for my PMA 2021 Masaligan classmates. Stay strong buddies!" he wrote in the caption.
Matteo, 31, officially joined the Army Reserve Command in April 2019, saying he did so “because I love my country.”
He is said to be the only Army Reservist who asked to be enlisted in the grueling leadership development course, according to Brig. Gen. Wilson Gonzales, commander of 1st Scout Ranger Regiment.
Previously, Matteo said he cried every day and almost quit after the first four days of his training.
Prior to his entry as Army reservist, Matteo also joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, alongside fellow celebrities Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico.
Matteo has since released a documentary, Ranger G, about his life during his Scout Ranger training. The hour-and-a-half-long film is available on ABS-CBN streaming platform iWant.
