After graduating from the idol girl group MNL48 last November, Sela Guia is ready to officially embark on her solo career as a new member of the Star Magic family. After almost three years with MNL48, Sela said she is ready to do not just dancing and singing but acting as well.

Kasi before hindi ako aware sa mga ganung facts and now I’m just grateful for the opportunity,” she shared during the Star Magic Black Pen Media Con last June 21.

The 21-year-old artist said she has always loved acting and can’t wait to learn more through the Star Magic workshops.

I want to be a dancer, I want to be an actress, ganun. So I think talagang nasa dugo ko na yung pagiging passionate sa acting. Kasi I remember din madami akong mga artistang ini-impersonate.

“Talagang masasabi kong gusto ko itong aking napiling craft and I would say na hindi madali itong pag-arte sa camera kasi natandaan ko yung sinabi ni direk Rahyan (Carlos) sa Star Magic workshop, na hindi lang dapat facial expression yung gumagana sa iyo kapag umaarte ka eh, dapat marunong ka ipagsabay yung mind, yung voice, yung diction mo and yung body language mo. Masasabi ko talaga na hindi yun madali. So I think madami ka pang kailangan gawin para maging maganda yung outcome,” she explained.

As part of the first generation of MNL48, Sela admitted she still misses the girl group she has built a strong bond with.

“Of course. After my announcement ng departure sa group last November 2020, hindi ko talaga maiwasang malungkot kasi siyempre two to three years yung ginugol kong time sa MNL48 and hindi ko talaga maiwasang malungkot. Like the first few months, gusto ko lagi sila makita, yung dati kong routine na-mi-miss ko. Sobra naming close. Of course gusto ko silang makita ulit and makatrabaho ulit sa isang project,” she said.

Because of her experience as part of an idol group, Sela said she has gotten used to bashers already.

So natutunan ko while being there, kahit na madami kang bashing na na-ri-receive, huwag mo siya dibdibin. Gamitin mo yun as a strength para sa pagbutihin pa yung craft mo. Kasi at the end of the day ikaw naman yung haharap sa tao eh, hindi sila. Gawin mo lang yung panglakas ng look para mas mapagbuti mo ang iyong work,” she said.

A dutiful daughter who loves treating her family after receiving her paycheck, Sela said she also tries to follow whatever advice her parents give her.

Kaya stay humble at mapagkumbaba talaga,” she said.
