With less than two weeks to go before the Jayda in Concert event happening on June 26, Jayda Avanzado said she has always been in constant preparation even before she found out she would be having her first solo concert.
“I’ve just really been at it in terms of preparation, not just for the concert but every day I aspire to keep improving as an artist. You always have to have that mindset that you have to keep growing because the minute you start thinking there’s nothing more for you to know, you can’t learn enough. That’s why I’m always learning and exposing myself to different kinds of music,” she said.
With the unexpected lockdown of the entire country last year, Jayda revealed that some plans of her career had to be postponed and rescheduled. But despite that, she did not let it affect her.
“I’m a firm believer in that things happen for a reason. I will admit that there were some plans that I won’t say were derailed but I guess it slowed down a bit or postponed for the time being. But at the same time, looking at the silver lining that this pandemic has, it’s opened up so many doors for me I think and so many good things have come out of it. I’ve never been more in touch with my Filipino roots as well as a musician and as an artist so it’s refreshing for me and it’s added to my evolution as an artist.
“So I know for a lot of us a lot of things don’t necessarily go our way but I choose to look at the positive side of things and so many new things have happened and my belief that I always say all the time is kung may mawawala, meron ring darating. So in my opinion, with certain things not pushing through, I think the things that were really meant for me did come my way instead,” she said.
With her career on the rise, Jayda shared her overall goal as an artist and performer.
“Hopefully I can only hope for the best. I do my best and I hope for the best. I think that’s the mindset that I have. I put my heart and soul into all the work that I do, no matter what opportunity comes my way. I always try to make the most out of it. I see myself continuing to evolve and hopefully make a difference on the music industry. That’s all I can hope for and a connection with as many people as possible. I think that’s super important to me as an artist and with my passion as a singer-songwriter, the end goal for me all the time is when I hear people say that they can relate to my songs and they connect to it, I can’t be happier,” she explained.
