After a visit to Korea in 2019, Kapamilya actress and singer Kristel Fulgar ended up becoming friends with Korean businessman Yohan Kim (CEO of a popular Korean cosmetics brand) whom she fondly refers to as “Big Boss” in her vlogs. This year the two collaborate on the song “Smile Again” for a new Fil-Korean web drama called Love From Home.

In her latest vlog posted last May 5, Kristel revealed the behind-the-scenes process of how they worked with a Korean composer and recorded the song separately since Yohan is in Korea.
Siyempre for me it’s a pleasure to work with very talented Korean people and finally magkakaroon na ako ng original song ko na Korean at saka may ka-duet ako na napakagaling na singer,” she shared.

The song, which was sung mostly in Korean, is a dream come true for Kristel who has been a longtime fan of Korean drama and music.
“Dati kino-cover ko lang yung mga Korean OST, ngayon nagkaroon ako ng original na OST ng isang web drama so I’m so happy. Parang for me it’s like a dream come true. Ganun ginawa itong kantang ‘to. Nakakakkilig para maramdaman ng mga audience. Actually nung kinakanta ko ‘to, hindi ko rin mapigilan na hindi mag-smile kasi yung lyrics niya very sweet, very calm. Galing din nung pagkaka-arrange nung composer nitong kanta na ’to,” she explained.

During the vlog, Kristel also shared that the idea to include the song actually came from “Big Boss” who did not expect her to ask him to include him in the duet. Naisip niya why not pagawa siya ng kanta,” she admits.
