Toni Gonzaga interviewed Catholic preacher and author Bo Sanchez in her latest Toni Talks segment on her YouTube channel.
In the interview, Bo shared his journey when he contracted COVID-19 last March 30 and shared his learnings when he was battling for his life.
According to Bo, he was the hardest hit by COVID in their family compound. He said that no one expected that it would be him because everybody felt he was healthy.
“I have been a semi-vegetarian for 30 plus years. I exercise, I feel that I am healthy kaya lang ‘yung COVID ganun talaga eh. It comes siguro meron akong weakness in my immune system. But it hit me hard. Lasted more than a month,” he shared.
Bo shared that he experienced severe diarrhea, splitting headache, and difficulty in breathing. He revealed that there was a point when his oxygen level was so low.
“There were three rock bottom moments sa COVID journey ko na ‘yun talagang ramdam na ramdam ko na nagtanong [ako], ‘Is this the day na?’ Kasi talagang I’ve never experienced that ‘yung hininga mo bumabagsak,” he said.
Sharing what brought him peace when he was at that point of his life, he relayed, “You know what brought me peace? Okay Lord, I surrender my life to you… When binigay ko sa Panginoon, it was beautiful. I felt so much peace in my heart. Grabe pala’ yung sinasabi nila the perfect prayer [is] ‘Lord your will be done,’ the best.”
He relayed that what helped him survive COVID was discovering his “surrendered place.”
“I discovered this room, a place, ang nickname ko ‘the surrendered place’ and when I discovered that place, wala ako naramdaman na takot o pangamba, total peace, tapos ayaw ko na umalis sa kwartong ‘yun. Wala na akong attachments,” he said.
Bo relayed that after surviving COVID, he learned to surrender everything to God.
"Parang ang sarap mabuhay sa surrender, sa yakap ng Panginoon parang lumalim 'yung relationship ko kay Lord,” he stated.
