Melissa Ricks has finally opened up about her simple wedding to Michael Macatangay in California last Sunday, May 23.
In a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday, May 26, the actress shared details about their wedding as she uploaded official photos from their big day.
"Our wedding. Our special day made special by my closest friends and relatives here in California in only 3 weeks!" she wrote.
"I woke up early, hubby cooked breakfast, we went to the grocery to get some snacks and soda for the guests, went through the drive thru at jack in the box to get churros and tacos, then proceeded home to get ready. I did my own hair and makeup, zipped myself into my gown, drove down to the chapel, had a simple ceremony with 15 people. Afterwards we had the reception in my stepdad's backyard. Couldn't get any simpler than that," she added.
As for her wedding gown, Melissa shared that it was custom made by Batangas-based designer Lauren Berberabe.
"I honestly didn't know what I wanted to wear. What I knew is I wanted it simple and comfortable, and that's exactly how it was! Actually, Michael had more participation on my gown, from the fabric choice, to design! Love how hands on he was! Can you believe he talked to Lauren before I did? Haha. Thank you Batangas-based designer @laurenbabyrabe and @laurenberberabedesigns for making me my dream gown in a 'rush'. Thank you for all the love and support!" she said.
Meanwhile, Melissa also explained why her daughter Kiera‚—with her former partner Charles Togezaki—was missing during the wedding.
Responding to a netizen who asked about Kiera's absence, the actress said: "Risky to bring our kids. Maybe when vaccine is available for them."
It was in August last year when Melissa got engaged to Michael, her partner of more than two years.
The intimate surprise proposal happened in Batangas where they first met and was witnessed by the couple's family and close friends.
Melissa met Michael at Jesus the Anointed One Church in Rosario, Batangas, where the actress would go every Sunday along with her daughter.
"5 years ago I was in a totally different place in my life, I wouldn't [have thought] I would be where I am today," she said in one of her posts. "God has truly been good. He has answered my prayers as he has promised."
Melissa introduced Michael to her followers in November 2019.
