When ABS-CBN first announced that it would be coming out with the Philippine remake of the BBC series Doctor Foster (and South Korean version World of the Married) earlier this year, netizens were quick to come up with their wishlist of actresses that they hoped would get the title role. Judy Ann Santos was one of the most popular names that came up, even though the actress herself has been silent on the topic.

In May, ABS-CBN announced that Jodi Sta. Maria would be playing the lead role of Jill Ilustre, a doctor who has her world turned upside down when she discovers her husband is having an affair. In the series, Zanjoe Marudo plays Jodi’s husband David Ilustre and Sue Ramirez plays Lexy who is the other woman. Playing the couple’s son is Zaijian Jaranilla as Gio Ilustre who is caught in the middle of his parents’ tug of war.

During a May 24 interview on Instagram Live with writer G3 San Diego, Juday declined to answer directly whether she actually received an offer to do the role in deference to her fellow actress Jodi.

“I don’t know if I have to answer that question kasi I don’t want to be unfair kay Jodi. At the same time, gusto ko rin maghintay sa management if they are going to answer that. Happy ako that it is Jodi who is doing Doctor Foster. It’s a very, very good material. It’s a good project,” she said.

Juday also shared why she has been hesitant in accepting projects during the pandemic and having to go into lock-in taping for weeks at a time. “If ever, hindi ko rin naman din siya magagawa, kasi takot nga ako lumabas, more than anything. Malalayo sa pamilya, eh ang liliit pa ng mga anak namin. Kung siguro dalaga’t binata na ‘tong mga ‘to, maiintindihan nila,” she explained.

Juday is happy raising three children with husband Ryan Agoncillo. Their youngest daughter Luna just turned five last January.

As for being reunited onscreen with former leading man Piolo Pascual, Juday said she is not closing her doors to the possibility of acting with him again. “Kasi wala namang imposible ‘di ba?  At saka sa pagkakataong ito, kung kaya, bakit hindi? It’s just that lalo ngayon, hindi ako makatanggap ng mga acting jobs, kasi natatakot ako talagang lumabas,” she added.
