Hailed as runner-up in Pinoy Big Brother: Connect earlier this year, Andi Abaya was known for her friendly, loyal, and outgoing personality. The 19-year-old teen from Parañaque city revealed that joining showbiz has always been her childhood dream.
“Ang tagal ko ng pinapangarap na makapasok sa industry na ito. I remember nung bata pa lang ako. Gusto ko mag-modeling, gusto ko makita sa TV. That’s why I started doing commercials na in the States when I was 13 and when I entered PBB and now that I’m here in the outside world, yung gusto ko ma-achieve sa industry na ito is of course is magkaroon ng sariling pelikula, teleserye, actually any opportunity gusto ko ma-explore itong industry na ito because I’m super excited kasi pangarap ko ‘to nung bata pa ako. Now that I’m here, I’m one step closer to that dream. I will be open to learning, I will be open to any opportunity given to me,” she shared.
Formerly introduced as Andrea Abaya, Andi said she will make the most of her opportunity to be part of the new Squad Plus.
“Nung in-announce na we are officially part of Squad Plus nagpasalamat ako and I made a promise to them and to myself na gagawin ko yung part ko as a member of the Squad Plus and I will do my best and I will make them proud, I will make my family proud, and I will make myself proud. And sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin, ibibigay ko yung lahat ko. Ipagpapatuloy ko yung ginagawa ko sa industry na ito para maabot ko din yung mga pangarap ko. I believe yung characteristics na meron ako na siguro nakita ng Squad Plus yung pagiging determinado at motivated ko and the fact that I always push myself to do my best,” she said.
Andi said she is ready to face all kinds of challenges as she enters showbiz. “Knowing na mas pinapakilala na kami sa industry na ito so I mentally prepared myself sa mga bashers and of course at the same time sa mga opportunities na ibibigay nito. And I will prepare myself kung ano man yung magiging challenge ng industry na ito para ipagpatuloy ko palakasin yung loob ko, patatagin yung sarili ko and harapin yung mga obstacles ahead of me,” she said.
With a voice that she feels is more suited to singing slow and acoustic songs, Andi shared that she would love to experience singing and acting on stage in theater as well.
“When it comes to performing, passion ko talaga yun. I really love to dance and to sing. I also love acting. That’s why I joined cheerleading kasi isa yun sa mga bagay na nag-strengthen ng skills pagdating sa performing and at the same time sa pag-boost din ng confidence ko. When it comes to having my own recording in the future, I am praying na hopefully I get to have that opportunity because passion ko talaga yung pagkakanta and pagsasayaw and it’s one of my dreams to be part of this industry. I really want to achieve a lot to make my parents proud and make my family proud,” she said.
For her fans, Andi promised to do them proud in her new journey in showbiz. “Hindi ako susuko. I’ll keep going. Ibibigay ko lahat ko. I’ll do my best kasi nakikita ko sila na sinusuportahan nila ako, sobrang minamahal nila ako. And what I can do to give back the pagmamahal na binibigay nila is to show them that I love them and to continue doing my part here in this industry,” she added.
