On Instagram, Sandara shared a photo of herself alongside a message, her first since leaving YG Entertainment.

The 36-year-old artist expressed her gratitude to YG which she described as her home in South Korea since she moved back in 2004.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I leave YG, which has been my family, my caregiver, my home, my rock, and my everything since I came to Korea with no family or friends in 2004 to take on new challenges,” Sandara wrote in the caption.

According to Sandara, she found a real “family” in YG Entertainment which took care of her for the past 17 years.

“I fell in love with the hip seniors here and grew along with the company for 17 years with the belief that I could become not only a colleague but also a real family member of the YG family,” she said.

Sharing how YG Entertainment made her feel since she became part of it, she said: “Those years have been like a dream immeasurable and stage performances with my crew that blew people away.”

Admitting she got her heart broken when things ended for the K-Pop girl group, she said: “When 2NE1 broke up, it felt like everything was falling apart.”

While 2NE1’s disbandment broke her heart, Sandara admitted that she has learned a lot of things in the past five years.

“Then for the next 5 years, I challenged myself in various genres with the mindset that I was starting all over again. Looking back, those 5 years became a great asset to me and gifted me with the positive image I have now,” Sandara wrote.

Dara said being on stage is her way of “repaying” her fans who helped her reach her “unfaltering dreams.”

“My heart’s greatest desire has always been being on stage. Showing that part of me is my way of repaying the love and support of my Blackjacks who have shown me undying love and also the one unfaltering dream I’ve had since I was in second grade,” she said.

Then again, Dara couldn’t be more excited for the next chapter of her life. “It is with excitement that I look ahead to the next act in my life which could be my biggest challenge yet as I leave my nest,” she said.

Admitting it’s hard for her to say goodbye, she said she’s still thankful for the people who waited for her.

“My priorities are people, affection, and time spent together. Goodbyes are always the hardest to do, but I take a deep breath and take a big step closer to my dream and the people who have stood by me, waiting for me to take that step,” she stated.

She then ended her post by writing: “Happy 12th anniversary, 2NE1!”
