Dimples Romana took to social media to share her touching message for her late sister, Pebbles, on the occasion of her birth anniversary.
On Instagram on Monday, May 17, the Kapamilya actress shared a series of photos showing her and her sister when they were still little kids.
"My sister fought leukemia—cancer of the blood for roughly about 4 years when she was little. She would’ve been 33 today," Dimples captioned her post.
"Happy birthday Pebbles. Ate loves you very much," she added.
In her caption, Dimples also shared her takeaway from her sister's battle with leukemia, as she sent her message of support for all cancer patients and their families.
"A big hug and salute to all the cancer warriors reading this and your families as well. Alam na alam ko ang pakiramdam ng may laban ang pamilya sa isang sakit na tila uubusin ka, in all aspects of the word. But if there’s any takeaway I have kept in my heart during those difficult years of our bout against cancer, it is that the Lord’s love NEVER FAILS US," she said.
"Wala man si Pebbles sa piling namin ngayon, I take comfort in knowing that she no longer feels pain and she’s now in heaven with my Papa having the most peaceful and best time of their lives. So if you’re reading this and you’re about to give up at pakiramdam mo ubos na ubos ka na, kapit lang. Better days are coming," she added.
In a previous interview, Dimples revealed that it was because of her sister that she joined show business 24 years ago.
"Those years were really difficult for my family. Talagang babang baba. Kaya siguro ngayon mas matamis kapag may magandang nangyayari sa amin. My sister had leukemia when she was five. She passed away when she was eight," the actress said.
Four years after her sister passed away, Dimples lost their father, Joel Romana, to an aneurysm.
At the time, the actress was only 16 years old. As the eldest, she took on the responsibility of taking care of their family.
According to her brother, former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Bam, Dimples did a great job in being the head of their family.
"I never doubted my sister po. I never doubted her," said Bam.
